Rebecca Smallwood CS 80 - Lab 03 Define the following terms: interlacing - an interlaced image is one that has a rough preview that is downloaded first when a page is loading. As the page continues to load, the better, clearer image will replace it. tolerance - increases or decreases the pixel range color that a tool selects (i.e. how tolerant it will be when making a selection in the image...set low, and it will only pick pixels very close in color to the pixel selected. Set high, and it will be more tolerant, and pick a wider range.) matte - a matte helps when doing transparent images, because it blends the edge of the transparency with the edge of the showing image, thereby making the image appear smooth rather than jagged. feathering - When making a selection with the marquee or lasso tool, you can set feathering to "blur" the edges of the selection, to make it look as if it is fading on the edges. Web-safe palette - the 216 colors that can be safely used across platforms and browsers. filter - features that Photoshop offers to completely modify an image's (or layer's) appearance, such as liquify, splatter, add noise, etc. image slicing - creating smaller pictures as pieces from a larger picture.
